I bought a used copy of Never Let Me Go by Kazuo Shiguro from a Goodwill bookstore. I love that place. I'm saving money and supporting a good organization. This book has shown up in my Amazon recommendations in the past and when I saw it, I thought I'd give it a shot.
From Borders, I got the last copy of Sugar by Bernice L. McFadden and I Do Not Come to You by Chance by Adaobi Tricia Nwaubani. I'm so glad I finally got a copy of McFadden's first novel and just in time for its tenth anniversary. If you weren't already aware, she put out a call to reach 10,000 copies sold by January 9, 2010 which is the anniversary date. If you follow me on Twitter, you know I've been a pretty big proponent of McFadden's campaign. As for the other title, it's been on my wish list for months and was almost my only option as Borders is so short on fiction titles by African and African American authors unless you're looking for urban/street fiction. That's another post for another day.
Happy new year and happy reading!
