What I Do

I pretty much follow the regimen laid out by Teri of tightly curly.
*gently wash scalp
*co-wash with globs of rinsing conditioner (careful not to pile hair on top of head or manhandle hair)
*after rinsing hair, add globs of leave in conditioner to soaking wet hair
*detangle and smooth with Denman brush
*typically, I do 4-6 two strand twists, smooth shea or mango butter on the ends, and pin them back

I like to keep my ends protected because that equals healthy hair and maximum length potential. When I wear it out, I either set and air dry on plastic curlers. Yes, this is insane and takes about 24 full hours for it dry, but it looks awesome. I'm hardcore about no heat on my hair. My other option is the twist-n-curl popularized by Curly Nikki. It's about 20 two strand twists set on curlers. Once dry, take out the curlers and undo the twists. Shaking it out from the roots without disturbing the ends gives best results.

Always sleep with hair covered with a satin or silk scarf OR on a satin pillowcase to protect ends from breakage and hair from dryness.

Rosemary and Peppermint Hot Oil Treatment
This is to be done after washing, conditioning, and rinsing hair.
*combine 2 drops rosemary essential oil and 1 drop peppermint oil with 2 tbs. shea or mango butter.
*melt ( I usually do this microwave)
*massage over hair and into scalp
* wrap hot, wet towel around hair until it cools (I've been known to repeat the towel wrap a second and, even, third time)
This is great for a wash n go or before doing twists for those not wanting to leave conditioner in their hair or just to change the routine.
